Remote Alba Fest was a bold, grassroots celebration of remote work, creativity and community – designed to bring people together, spark ideas and showcase what’s possible with a small budget and a big vision.

What made it special:

  • Brought together freelancers, creatives, founders and the remote-curious in a welcoming, informal setting.

  • Led by Nomad Alba’s founder Bianca, in partnership with Code Division.

  • Pulled off by a small, passionate team with just £10,000 from Glasgow City Council.

  • Hands-on workshops covering social media, data, creative thinking and communication.

  • Sessions on freelancing, side-hustles and navigating remote career paths.

  • Collaboration at its core – designed to spark real conversations and new projects.

  • Grounded in local culture – Glasgow’s energy, history and talent took centre stage.

  • A mix of chill and playful experiences:

    • Sound baths and creative ‘Imagineer’ sessions

    • Incredible food by Soul Food Sisters

    • Comedy and music from An Dannsa Dub

It wasn’t your average conference – no lanyards, no awkward icebreakers. Just people, ideas, good vibes, and a shared belief in the future of remote work.

Code Division proudly hosted the World Refugee Day Tech Talent Showcase, in partnership with Code Your Future, to celebrate inclusion, innovation, and the power of diverse talent in tech.

Our learners from the recently completed Cyber Resilience Programme were able to present their projects.

This inspiring community event highlighted the incredible work of developers from refugee and underserved backgrounds.

Our collaboration with Code Your Future brought together mission-aligned expertise in training and empowering refugee tech talent — a partnership that amplified impact and expanded opportunity for all involved.

Highlights from event:

  • Live demos of real-world tech projects in data and cybersecurity by emerging developers.

  • Over 100 attendees, including employers from JP Morgan, Barclays, and other key players in the Glasgow tech ecosystem.

  • Delicious global cuisine provided by Soul Food Sisters CIC.

  • Networking opportunities connecting talent with hiring managers, tech leaders, and community allies.

  • A strong focus on building a more inclusive, skilled, and innovative tech sector.

Partnering with Code Your Future enabled Code Division to extend its reach, supporting talent pipelines that reflect the true diversity of our communities. The event showcased how collaboration drives innovation — and how investing in people changes the future of tech for the better.

We thank everyone who joined us in celebrating refugee talent and making the tech industry more inclusive, one connection at a time.
